Mika Turner

Hi, I'm a developer that loves clean & elegant code.

A little bit about me.

My tech journey started with an ad-hoc undergraduate degree in multimedia art and music at Northwestern University. I worked in video and audio production with some web design work throughout my twenties and contributed to multiple video art projects with other Minnesota artists. In 2008 I went to Traditional Chinese medicine school and graduated in 2011. I have run my own successful small business as a holistic medical provider for the past decade.

Sparked by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, I am re-engaging my art and technology roots. I am interested in using my adaptability, organization skills, and eye for detail to write clean, elegant code. I also use my eye for visual beauty to help create an aesthetically pleasing design with purpose. I am actively honing my skills in multiple domains, front-end design, graphic design, photography, and video, to have the freedom & versatility to do work remotely, which is vital in these times. I live with my husband Isaac, our cat Kal, and a small flock of chickens amongst a tiny forest of trees in Minnesota.

Hand-Coded HTML

My focus is writing clean, well-formatted, semantic HTML5 by hand to make sure that the content is easy to read, easy to collaborate, trouble-shoot and accessible.

Well-Organized CSS

I pride myself on writing CSS that is easy to read and build on. I focus on keeping my CSS lean and fast to load, and I make it a habit to stay up to date on current best practices.
